This RIB CostX Advanced course aims to build on the knowledge learnt in the RIB CostX Fundamentals course. It will inform and demonstrate the principles of Zone Categories and Zones, Rate Libraries, and Coding & Sorting using RIB CostX. This Advanced course builds on foundational skills to deliver expertise in structured estimating workflows, enabling professionals to manage complex projects with precision and efficiency. This program focuses on three advanced capabilities: Zone Management, Rate Libraries, and Coding & Sorting, all critical for high-level cost planning and reporting. Key Learning Outcomes: Zones & Workbooks: Learn to segment projects into logical zones for detailed analysis, enabling accurate allocation of quantities and costs across building sections or phases. Apply zones within workbooks to streamline cost plans and client reporting. Rate Libraries & Maintenance: Master the creation, use, and upkeep of rate libraries for consistent pricing across projects. Explore advanced functions such as location-based adjustments, exporting/importing templates, and generating workbooks from dimension groups for rapid cost breakdowns. Coding & Sorting: Gain proficiency in coding structures to organise data by trade, resource type, or custom classifications. Perform advanced coding exercises, including LPM (Labour, Plant, Material) and resource analysis, to support robust reporting and benchmarking. By completing this course, learners will confidently apply advanced CostX features to optimise estimating workflows, maintain data integrity, and deliver transparent, client-ready outputs. Each module aligns with CPD objectives, reinforcing professional competency in digital cost management for complex projects. Read more

The CostX Fundamentals course aims to inform and demonstrate the principles of 2D Measurement and the principles of more advanced use of Workbooks using RIB CostX It provides a structured foundation in digital estimating workflows, combining essential skills in 2D measurement and workbook-based cost breakdowns. Learners progress from basic setup to advanced techniques, ensuring competence in core estimating tasks aligned with professional CPD standards. Key Learning Outcomes: Project & Drawing Setup: Create projects, import building data, and prepare common drawing formats for accurate measurement. Precision Measurement: Apply point and line modes, dimension groups, and shortcuts to measure areas, lengths, and counts efficiently. Structured Data Management: Build and manage workbooks to organise quantities, link dimension groups, and maintain live updates for dynamic cost models. Quantity & Rate Integration: Populate quantity sheets, apply rate sheets for cost breakdowns, and leverage libraries for consistent pricing logic. Quality & Reporting: Use workbook tools to validate data, export structured outputs, and generate reports that meet industry compliance and audit requirements. By completing this bundle, learners gain practical skills to measure, structure, and report project data with accuracy and transparency—critical for modern estimating practice. Each module is mapped to CPD objectives, reinforcing professional competency in digital takeoff, cost planning, and data integrity. Read more

This course aims to inform and demonstrate the principles of working with three dimensional (3D) Building Information Models. It is comprised of several modules in which the tools are available within RIB CostX will be utilized to extract parametric data from BIM Model files, measure quantities directly from 3D Models, and automatically update data for progressive design changes. The 3D Model files used in this course are Design Web Format (DWF/DWFx) and IFC files which have been published from Autodesk Revit Architecture. Read more
